Photo Gallery: A Retro-Glam Aesthetic Christmas in LA

Did I accidentally create a retro-glam aesthetic for our first Christmas in LA? Dare I say… yes. This was the first year in a decade that I haven’t been either travelling or heavily pregnant at Christmastime. At first, I thought celebrating at home was going to be dull—you know, without the frantic energy of family around. But looking back at these photos, I see it was anything but.

We sipped on festive mimosas made with Avaline Prosecco, watched It’s a Wonderful Life, gave our full attention to Beyonce’s halftime show. (Side note: never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d have football on during Christmas, but Beyonce gets me to bend my rules.) I was busy for a lot of the day in the kitchen, but I had a Chamberlain peppermint mocha to keep me going.

While it was wonderful to spend Christmas in our own home, I still love a huge family gathering. It’s my dream to rent a mammoth-sized mountainside chalet and have everyone come over (and some stay over) for Christmas. I’m talking in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, immediate family, pets. Everyone. Like National Lampoon, but bigger.

Anyway, here are a few snaps from my accidentally retro-glam aesthetic Christmas in LA.

The twins opening up their gifts in the morning.

The festive mimosas I made: one cranberry rosemary and the other one, classic orange with a cranberry ice cube.

Homemade cinnamon buns for Christmas Eve breakfast—and every breakfast after.

My icon, Audrey Hepburn, with Santa Claus.

Our family Christmas photo at The Grove.

Christmas (Eve) fettuccine, inspired by The Holiday.

A couple of boxes from my favourite designer, Jacquemus, were under the tree.

Our dining table transformed into a fort for the kids. I got it from West Elm.

Broccoli + carrots, cheesy potatoes, creamed spinach, my Grammy’s stuffing, turkey with cranberry & gravy.
