Getting Married in Jacquemus
In just a few days, my husband and I will be celebrating two years of marriage. We got married at a small venue with an intimate crowd of twenty or so of our closest friends and a few family members. The truth was: we didn’t want everyone spending obscene amounts to fly to us, so we ended up having two weddings. One in Toronto and one in my hometown, Victoria. But one thing remained the same: getting married in Jacquemus.
In the end, I settled on a dress from my favourite designer, Jacquemus. The long version of La Robe Saudade to be exact. It was a stroke of luck that paired me with my dreamy wedding dress: the original dress I’d ordered wasn’t expected to arrived until the day after our wedding. To be honest, I don’t even remember what brand it was. I’ve all but forgotten it because getting married in Jacquemus was simply too divine.
Recently, Jacquemus launched their much-anticipated wedding collection, Le Mariage. Of course, people like moi were already getting married in the ready-to-wear collection. However, much like saying your vows and placing a ring on your spouse’s finger: it’s now official. According to Vogue Runway, “the Jacquemus wedding collection caters not only to brides but grooms, the mother and father of the bride, and, of course, the guests.”
Wouldn’t that be a dream? The entire wedding in a chic, modern, minimal look from Simon Porte Jacquemus?
Getting Married in Jacquemus
Our twins were just four months old when we tied the knot. As you can imagine, it was tough to find time to do anything besides take care of those squishy little babies. So, I ended up doing my own hair and make-up at home between naps and feedings. Not too shabby for a girl who puts on eyeshadow with her finger and doesn’t know the first thing about contouring—and didn’t even attempt.
I went with a slicked-back bun after watching a tutorial on YouTube on how Hailey Bieber does hers. And for my glam, I didn’t go crazy or do anything totally outside of the norm because I didn’t want to end up hating my look on my wedding. Thankfully, I loved it and felt like an absolutely gorgeous, gorgeous girl. A beaded pearl purse, dozens of gold & pearl earrings, my grandmother’s gloves, and gem-studded leopard heels completed the ‘fit.
Imagine exchanging vows in a sun-kissed vineyard in Provence, surrounded by fields of lavender, and the gentle hum of cicadas. Or in my case: the sound of champagne popping at Archive Studios and a carefully-curated playlist in the background. The effortlessly chic aesthetic of Jacquemus perfectly complements the romantic ambiance of a micro-wedding, with its focus on natural beauty and understated luxury.
A Jacquemus wedding is a celebration of love, style, and the magic of a Parisian summer—all coming together in a harmonious union of fashion and romance.
Ultimately, getting married in Jacquemus offered me a unique blend of minimalistic elegance and charm. The simplicity and clean lines of Simon’s designs created a modern and sophisticated bridal option for me to feel like the most beautiful (and the coolest) bride.
