Chatting with Canadian Actor and Hallmark Heartthrob, Marcus Rosner
Today I’m revisiting an interview I did with Marcus Rosner, a Canadian actor and Hallmark heartthrob. When I was working for Chloe Magazine a few years ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing a handful of celebrities—from actors to singers and fashion designers. This article about Marcus Rosner was one of the first ones I wrote. Then, along came Maren Morris, Amanda Brugel, Richard Harmon, and more. You can find a non-exhaustive list of my published articles here.
First of all, I was excited to interview Marcus Rosner because, like me, he was born on the west coast of British Columbia. Also, after high school he felt lost about which direction he wanted his life to go in, and was inspired to begin acting by a trip he took to New York City with his mom. Not that this is about me, but I too was inspired after a trip to NYC with my mother (and sister, aunt, and cousin) post-graduation. There’s just something about that city.
And apparently, there is just something about Marcus Rosner, too.
In his own words:
I’ve been a lifelong jock, having played nearly every major sport at some competitive level.
I’m a massive hip-hop fan and an even bigger sports fanatic.
I thought Tom Cruise was my father when I was very young and Jerry Maguire is largely one of the reasons I got into acting.
I’m a lifelong candy junkie.
I’m a huge comedy fan and have seen almost every episode of Saturday Night Live since I was 10.
3 Things to Know About Hallmark Heartthrob Marcus Rosner
1. His credits include a dozen Christmas movies
There’s no denying it: Marcus Rosner is a bonafide Hallmark heartthrob. He’s been in more than a dozen holiday films, including: Coupled Up For Christmas, Engaged by Christmas, Christmas in Alaska, Falling Like Snowflakes, An Ice Palace Romance, Flipping For Christmas, Christmas in Maple Hills, and more. See some of Marcus Rosner’s movies on Apple TV.
2. His wife has worked on many of his Hallmark films
According to Yahoo, “Marcus Rosner is married to Ali Kroeker, a writer, producer, and costume designer. Kroeker has produced several of her husband’s Hallmark movies, including Finding Mr. Right, Coupled Up for Christmas, and Team Bride. Outside of Hallmark, Kroeker has worked on docuseries like Secret Nazi Expeditions, Engineering Evolved and Disasters at Sea.”
3. He gets nervous being around fans
Although a cool, confident actor, Marcus Rosner at times feels like he might not live up to fans’ expectations. “I haven’t really pursued them, just because I feel like some actors are very good at fulfilling the expectation that fans have when they meet somebody,” Rosner told Heavy. “I’ve never found myself to be particularly comfortable in that setting.”
Chatting with Canadian Actor Marcus Rosner
Canadian actor Marcus Rosner shares how he went from small-town jock to on-screen hottie.
Words by Melina Morry
Marcus Rosner embodies the athlete-turned-actor story that we hear about but don’t fully believe. There’s something about those two worlds that seems so far apart, it’s hard to imagine them colliding. Yet, for this Canadian actor, they did. “I grew up as a total jock,” he confesses. “I never considered the performing arts as something that would be a fit for me.”
After all, everyone knows that the jocks don’t sit with the drama nerds. (We can accredit that lesson to Mean Girls.) And not only do they not sit together, Marcus says he wasn’t even aware that his high school had a theatre!
So, how did he go from courts to casting calls?
A week after his high school graduation, Marcus took a celebratory trip to New York City—a place he had always dreamt of visiting. Albeit, not for the thriving theatre scene but for the same reason that a lot of people dream of NYC: a chance at an inside glimpse of The City That Never Sleeps.
He ended up catching a few Broadway productions—and the rest is history. Well, at least that’s when the acting seed was firmly planted in his mind.
“That was the first time I started to consider acting as a possible interest, let alone a career path,” says Marcus.

Ps. This is kind of funny. My Grammy emailed me once she found a copy of Chloe with the interview in it and said: “Marcus Rosner is a hunk—have to find something he’s in!”
