When My Book Becomes a Movie or TV Show, Here's Who I'd Cast to Star in The Manhattan Mishap

I’ll admit—I’m getting a bit ahead of myself here. No, I don’t have movie producers banging down my door. Nor do I have a contract sitting in front of me from Netflix, awaiting my signature. However, if I want to achieve my goal of having my book made into a movie, I have to manifest it, right?

Recently, I had a chat with my publisher’s marketing team. I had to fill out 21 questions (approximately) about what my goals were for my book. Obviously, one of my answers was to make The Manhattan Mishap into a movie or TV show. Come on! Who wouldn’t want to see their work up on the big (or small) screen? I like to dream big! However, my marketing specialist disagreed. She essentially told me that I was dreaming too big.

In my flabbergasted mind all I could think was, “Is there such a thing as dreaming too big?”

No, there’s not. I think we should all dream as expansively as we can! Which is why I’ve started fantasy casting celebs into the rom-com movie or miniseries that will one day be The Manhattan Mishap. Eek! I’m so excited just thinking about it. Of course, in this reverie of mine, budget isn’t an issue. I can cast whomever I please.

When The Manhattan Mishap becomes a movie, this is who I’d cast.

For Margot Moss, I’d cast Eiza Gonzalez.

Eiza Gonzalez would make a fabulous and fierce Margot Moss. She’s gorgeous, she’s stylish, and I think she’d be great at personifying my main character. Also, Eiza is someone who takes risks with fashion and that is so Margot. Another thing I love about her? She isn’t afraid to let loose and not take herself too seriously.

For Perla Rivera, I’d cast Justina Machado.

I absolutely love Justina Machado. Loved her in Queen of the South and Jane the Virgin. She’s hilarious and even though in my novel Perla is pretty evil, I think Justina could easily bring some humour to the role. Not to mention, an abundance of sass.

For Oliver Thompson, I’d cast Adam Demos.

I first saw Adam Demos in Falling Inn Love with Christina Milian. Then, in that terrible but oh-so-addicting Netflix show, Sex/Life. In The Manhattan Mishap, there are a few steamy scenes between Margot and Oliver. And if we’ve learned anything about Adam’s acting skills, it’s that he knows his way around a steamy scene.

What do you think about these choices? Who would you cast? Do you think my selection is totally wrong or freaking perfect?

Ps. If you’re still unfamiliar with The Manhattan Mishap and what it’s all about, grab your copy in my bookstore!
