The Manhattan Mishap Audiobook is Coming Soon
I’ve heard from a few people that they just can’t concentrate on reading. No matter what they do! And to be honest, since having twin babies, neither can I. Last year, I only read a handful of books and it was a struggle. Gone are the days when I’d keep track of 25+ books for the year. Sigh. However, that’s where The Manhattan Mishap audiobook arrives to save the day.
Whoever says that audiobooks don’t count as reading are seriously wrong. Of course it counts! If you follow along and hear the story then as far as I’m concerned, you’ve “read” it. There won’t be a pop quiz after you listen to The Manhattan Mishap audiobook, but you can take a quiz to find out which character you are.
The Manhattan Mishap is becoming an audiobook… sometime this year.
When setting a timeline for my audiobook, I didn’t want to put a hard date on it. After all, I don’t want to rush. It has to be the absolute best it can be. However, I am aiming for summertime. It’s a fabulous beach read. And now that I’m living in Los Angeles there are no shortage of beaches to read at.
Right now, my narrator Alexa Elmy is in the process of recording the book. Before recording, I had to write up blurbs on each character — ethnicity, accents, age, etc. And let me say, I feel bad that she had to do so many different voices! When I wrote the book with a dozen different accents plus all of the Spanish, I didn’t take into consideration someone reading it for an audiobook. It’s a tricky thing to master. However, I listened to handful of auditions and Alexa by far did the best job.
Once recording it complete, I’ll have to listen. And I’m dreading it. Are you even an author if your own material doesn’t inexplicably embarrass you? I am cringing so hard just thinking about listening to my words being read aloud. Is it a Gemini thing, a creative thing, or both? My money is on both.
Hands up if you're excited to listen to The Manhattan Mishap audiobook on your next flight, commute, or vintage shopping spree!
