The Manhattan Mishap at Little Free Library Locations—Can You Find It?
I’ve always been a big library girl. I remember going to the library with my parents when I was a kid and being thrilled to pick out a few books to take home—usually The Saddle Club, The Royal Diaries, or anything by Roald Dahl. And my own book The Manhattan Mishap was even in the library in my hometown. Talk about a full circle moment. Now, I’m bringing my book to Little Free Library locations around Los Angeles.
Long story short, while I’m piggybacking on my husband’s work visa, I’m not allowed to work or earn money in any capacity. I was selling The Manhattan Mishap through my bookstore, but with a couple dozen books left in a box, that’s been put on hold. So, I thought, why not give them away? I love the idea of Little Free Library and think the bookstands are so cute.
There are so many benefits of reading. Even rereading your favourite novels. Which is why I want to contribute to free libraries—to help people reap the benefits of books and live their best lives!
Reading offers a multitude of pros that contribute to personal growth and development. It enhances cognitive abilities, such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills, by exposing readers to diverse perspectives and new ideas. Additionally, reading can reduce stress and improve mental health by allowing you to escape into different worlds and experiences. It also increases knowledge and vocabulary, which can enhance communication skills and academic performance. Overall, making reading a regular habit can lead to a more enriched and fulfilling life.
And who doesn’t want that?
Whenever I’ve been going out somewhere with the twins, I’ve been taking a few copies of my book and dropping them off to Little Free Library locations around LA, from Beverly Hills to Pasadena. Keep an eye out for a juicy orange cover and discover your new fave beach read.
The Manhattan Mishap is at Little Free Library locations around Los Angeles. But what is Little Free Library, for those who don’t know?
Little Free Libraries are small, community-based book exchanges that promote literacy and sharing among neighbours. These charming structures are typically found in front yards, parks, or anywhere accessible to the public, allowing people to take a book or leave a book as they please. The concept encourages a sense of community, where people can discover new genres, share their fave reads, and pass along books they no longer need. Each Little Free Library is often uniquely decorated, reflecting the personality of its caretaker while providing a welcoming space for readers of all ages to explore the joy of reading without cost.
As for my novel: The Manhattan Mishap is a captivating novel that entwines elements of style and urban intrigue within the vibrant setting of Toronto and New York City. The story follows a diverse group of characters whose lives intersect in unexpected ways amidst a backdrop of bustling streets and iconic landmarks. When a seemingly innocuous event spirals into a series of unforeseen complications, the protagonist, Margot Moss, must navigate her personal dilemmas while keeping up a fashion-forward exterior.
Themes of friendship, trust, and resilience emerge as she confronts both her inner demons and the challenges of a city that never sleeps, making for a compelling story that keeps readers engaged until the very last page.
