Girls Night at Cascabel

Since moving to Los Angeles, I haven’t really had a chance to create the social life I had in Toronto or Victoria or Sydney. It was so much easier to make friends in those cities. Why? Well, a few things: I was born in one city, I went to school in another, and I was a childless, hardworking woman in the other. I’ve always been a social butterfly but damn, it’s tough to make friends as a mom in your 30s in a new city.

Recently I’ve been trying to make new friends here. After all, we plan on being in LA for a looong time. No offence to Canada, but we don’t want to go back—unless it’s to visit. So, of course, I need to make a new group of friends here.

Last weekend, I went to Cascabel with a new girlfriend. We ordered ceviche and smoky bacon guacamole. And of course, quite a few spicy margaritas. I wore a Jacquemus top I got on a super sale with a pair of linen trousers from the Le Papier collection (one of my favourites). A thrifted Michael Kors belt I scored at Value Village in Victoria cinched the pants up. And I finished the look with a vintage leather trench coat and brown leather bag, also thrifted.

Have you ever been to Cascabel? It was cute and so delicious. I’d 10/10 recommend.
