7 Ways I Want to Improve My Life, Career & Style this Year

New year, new me? No, I don’t think so. I like love who I am. However, I can always improve my life in one way or another. The motto: A little more glamour, a little less drama. And when it comes to my life, career, and style I am going to put my best foot forward. And what will that foot be wearing? Tony Bianco’s Fantasy boots of course.

This is going to be a huge year. So much is happening. From moving (back) to the west coast to working on an audiobook version of The Manhattan Mishap, there will be no shortage of exciting events. And bring it on ‘cause I’m ready! Here are the seven ways I want to improve my life, career, and style this year.

7 Ways I Want to Improve My Life, Career & Style this Year

Make more mom friends

Don’t get me wrong — I adore my childless friends. However, I’ve realized that there’s a huge difference between friends with babies and friends without. Of course I still see my friends who don’t have kids because I love them and I don’t want to lose that friendship. But it’s nice to hang out with someone who also has to stop to feed and change diapers. I wonder what kind of mommy & me classes LA has to offer?

Explore everything Los Angeles has to offer

In just two weeks, LA will be my new home. Eek! I still can’t really believe it. Even though my entire apartment is overrun with boxes. Seriously. There are boxes stacked to the ceilings and I can’t even get the stroller to the front door. It’s pure chaos. But in less than a month I’ll be in Playa Del Rey living it up in my new neighbourhood. (Or should I say neiborhood?) I can’t wait to discover everything about my new city.

Invest in quality pieces

Recently, I donated about 12 bags of clothing and household items to charity. Maybe more. I’ve lost count. All I know is that I’ve wanted to clear out as much as possible before we move. I’m getting rid of anything that doesn’t feel like me anymore. The me I am currently. Sure, animal print polyester dresses may have been part of my life at one point in time but I’m moving on. After all, I need something quality to pair with my Jacquemus Nikes.

Keep thrifting and buying vintage

Of course, thrifting and buying vintage will always be part of my life. And this is where I don’t mind buying something that is lower quality or ultra-trendy. For Mariah Carey’s Christmas concert I bought a cute hot pink dress from Value Village. I was disheartened when I looked at the label and it said Fashion Nova because normally that isn’t a brand I’d support. But I figured that buying thrifted is a different story. At that point, I’m just saving it from a nasty landfill.

Spend less times on social media

And more time with my kids. I don’t want them growing up glued to screens, so I have to do my part. Unfortunately for my social media addiction, that means cutting way back. To be fair, I already have cut back a lot. But my next goal is to stop checking my phone as soon as I wake up. Whatever is waiting for me there can do just that: wait.

Make my book the most successful it can be

I’m already blown away with what The Manhattan Mishap has accomplished since its publishing in November 2021. Although, I’m always dreaming of more. This year I want to get into bookstores in New York, sell out of copies from my bookstore, and have at least one feature in a magazine. Also, I have an audiobook coming! And once all of this is accomplished, I can go back to editing my second novel.

Eat clean & cook healthy meals

Bring on the smoothies, farmers market produce, and lean protein! I have a feeling that the fresh food options in California are going to be out of this world. I’m excited to cook clean and only put wholesome goodness into my body. With the twins, it’s been a real wake up call to eat healthier. They don’t eat salt, sugar, or processed foods. In other words, they eat the way I wish I would. And what’s stopping me?

What ways do you want to improve your life, career, and style this year?
