5 Words to Describe Me, My Books, and My Business

As a writer, I have no shortage of words at my disposal. Although, sometimes I do get tongue-tied and my fiancé is always quick to quip, “Aren’t you supposed to be a writer?” Yes! Thank you very much. It’s just that a lot of my best words get left on the page. Or in my latest manuscript.

Luckily, when I sit down to write a blog post, I have time on my side. And I can think about what I want to say. Although, I will admit, thinking has become increasingly difficult since giving birth to twins! Nonetheless, here are 5 words to describe me, my book, and my business.

5 Words to Describe Me, My Book, and My Business

Fierce

First and foremost, I have to keep things fierce. After all, when do I not? I literally built an entire brand around being fierce. Anyone remember The Lady-like Leopard? I may not blog there as much anymore but it’s what made me who I am in this city. When I first moved to Toronto, The Lady-like Leopard was my leopard-printed key to a social life. I had no friends, no blog, no plans. But I did have my blog!

Engrossed

I try to keep my life so entertaining and alluring that it’s totally engrossing. I’m not kidding. I want to be more absorbed in my own life than I am during a Netflix binge. Why? Because it’s motivating. When you love what you’re doing and who you are, it’s easy to be engrossed. It’s easy to stay productive and ambitious. Besides, if I’m not engrossed in myself, who is going to be? You have to believe in yourself first.

Powerful

I’ve always thought I was powerful. Well, maybe not when I was being bullied in high school. But definitely since I’ve glowed up and stopped listening to negativity. And what is more powerful than growing two human beings in your belly? Then, birthing them. Honestly, I’ll be feeding off of that power for a long time.

Challenging

Working. Mothering. Trying to keep two small babies alive and safe. Yeah, it’s been challenging. To say the absolute least. Thankfully my fiancé and I are always up for a challenge. What’s the fun in everything being easy breezy all of the time? Actually now that I’ve said that…

Thriving

Overall, I’d say my business and book are thriving. Why? Well, my novel is finally out in the world. Things are looking good. Fabulous, even. I’m working on more marketing initiatives and trying to spread the word. The Manhattan Mishap is alive and well. I always imagined it as more of a beach read, so now is the perfect time to ramp up promotion.
